In a meticulously executed operation to apprehend a saint, a team from the Madhya Pradesh Police conducted a covert mission at a temple located in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The officers, dressed inconspicuously, adopted the guise of devoted followers as part of their strategy. In a carefully orchestrated sequence of events, they presented the saint with offerings of sweets and a garland, humbly touched his feet, and then disclosed their true intent – to effect his arrest.
The saint in question, identified as Ram Sharan, had allegedly been implicated in a land dispute case that transpired in Morena, Madhya Pradesh. Subsequently, he had absconded to Mathura. Authorities apprehended him at the Ram Janaki Temple Ashram in Mathura.
According to statements made to Aaj Tak by a police official, the saint was accused of masterminding a fraudulent trust in an attempt to gain control over the rental income from shops constructed on a parcel of land exceeding six acres that was affiliated with a temple in Morena. The official also implicated another individual as an accomplice in the case.
The legal process initiated with the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) on November 3, 2021, after the temple's chief became aware of the entire scheme. Subsequently, three individuals were apprehended by the police in connection with the case. However, the saint, Ram Sharan, remained at large.
To track down the saint, the Madhya Pradesh High Court was involved, and two specialized police teams were assembled. When one of these teams arrived at the temple in Mathura, they blended seamlessly with the congregation, donning plain attire, and engaged in conversations with locals to gather information about the whereabouts of the saint.
Subsequently, they approached the saint bearing offerings of sweets and garlands. During this interaction, one of the police officers genuflected to touch the saint's feet, and it was at this moment that they disclosed their true identity. They revealed their purpose, informing the saint that they had journeyed from Morena Civil Lines to take him into custody. Furthermore, they conveyed that a substantial contingent of police personnel awaited his surrender outside the temple premises.
In the wake of these revelations, the saint opted to surrender, and he was subsequently taken into police custody. Following his arrest, he was presented in court in Morena, where he was subsequently remanded to jail.
