During the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan ICC World Cup 2023 match in Ahmedabad, a multitude of videos have been posted on the Mahadev Book app and its subsidiary, the 'Kheloyar' app, enticing individuals to place bets on this sporting event. The excitement surrounding this match is expected to lead to a significant volume of bets being placed on both platforms.
At present, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting an investigation into the Mahadev Book app concerning potential money laundering activities. Recently, investigations carried out by this central agency have unveiled connections between the masterminds of the Mahadev betting app, namely Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, and the involvement of gangster Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Mushtaqeem Ibrahim Kaskar, in the development of the 'Kheloyar' app.
Under the protection of Kaskar, the 'Kheloyar' app operates within Pakistan. It has been reported that Kaskar has provided Chandrakar with a personal security detail comprising trusted security guards and 20 to 30 bouncers.
As per sources familiar with the ED's investigation, an associate of Kaskar from Pakistan's Sindh province is responsible for running the app, with Chandrakar and Uppal at the forefront of this operation.
Chandrakar and Uppal established numerous websites and apps under the banner of the 'Mahadev Book app,' offering online casinos, betting platforms, and engaging in other illicit activities. Both individuals, against whom the ED and the Chhattisgarh Police have issued a Lookout Circular (LOC), are suspected to be in hiding in Dubai. The central agency has amassed substantial evidence of money laundering and has either frozen or confiscated the proceeds of crime, amounting to Rs 417 crore.
In connection with this case, several celebrities, including Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor, have been summoned for questioning. A previous India Today report exclusively disclosed that several prominent Bollywood figures, such as Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, and Tiger Shroff, attended Chandrakar's wedding in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) back in February of this year.
