The ongoing verbal clashes in Bihar continue unabated, with leaders of the Mahagathbandhan alliance and the opposition engaging in a war of words regarding the revelations arising from the recent caste survey conducted in the state. In the latest development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Bihar BJP chief Samrat Choudhary exchanged sharp criticisms, triggered when Choudhary made a derogatory reference to RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav as "cancer."
Samrat Choudhary, a prominent figure in the BJP, alleged that the comprehensive caste-based survey data emphasized the significance of the MY (Muslim-Yadav) equation primarily under the influence of Lalu Prasad Yadav.
In response, Nitish Kumar raised questions, saying, "What exactly does he mean by this? Is the person he is alluding to just an ordinary individual? Who held his (Samrat Choudhary's) father in high regard? We did! Lalu supported his father by facilitating his election as an MLA and later appointing him as a minister. He later left the party; what should we deduce from that?"
Samrat Choudhary countered by accusing the chief minister of undermining the Lav-Kush alliance, which refers to the alliance between the Kurmi and Koeri castes, a partnership that played a significant role in propelling Nitish Kumar to his current position of power. Choudhary remarked, "It was the Lav-Kush alliance that elevated Nitish to the leadership of Bihar, yet now he has aligned himself with Lalu. The voters will not easily forgive this change."
Neeraj Kumar, a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) representing the Janata Dal (United), expressed strong disapproval of Samrat Choudhary's choice of language, characterizing it as "inappropriate."
Furthermore, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced on Wednesday that the information collected as part of the caste survey, which encompasses details regarding the economic status of households, will be presented before the state assembly.
