Manipur extremist found with 68 bombs and more than 1200 cartridges

On Monday, the police reported the arrest of a militant and the confiscation of over 1,200 cartridges and 68 cathode explosives found in his possession.

This incident unfolded when traffic police stopped a car at the Moirangkhom Road crossing in the Imphal West district on Saturday. The vehicle attempted to flee, but the authorities successfully intercepted it.

Upon inspecting the vehicle, law enforcement discovered the sole occupant in possession of 573 rounds of 7.62 mm cartridges and 294 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber, along with 40 mm cathode explosives, according to a police official.

While the arrested individual was identified as a militant, the police did not disclose the name of the outfit he belonged to. Subsequently, both the individual and the confiscated items were transferred to the Imphal police station, where further legal proceedings would take place.
