Amid the ongoing tensions in Israel arising from an attack by Hamas militants from Palestine, Meenakshi Lekhi, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Minister of State (MoS), offered assurance on Sunday that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is closely monitoring the situation.
Numerous Indians have found themselves caught up in the hostilities between Israel and Hamas militants, enduring attacks from both sides. Lekhi reported that she received numerous calls throughout the night and emphasized that the PMO is collaborating closely with relevant authorities.
"I'm also aware that the Prime Minister's office is directly supervising the situation and we are on the job. Even in the past, many students, including people from Andhra Pradesh, were stuck across. So whether it was Operation Ganga or Vande Bharat, we brought everyone back," she conveyed to news agency ANI.
"I'm sure the Government of India and the Prime Minister's Office are directly in touch with those people and are working and monitoring the situation," she added.
These statements come against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in Israel, sparked by an attack carried out by Palestinian Hamas militants. The conflict has led to the involvement of numerous Indians and has garnered significant attention.
Even as the conflict continues to escalate, with the death toll in Israel and Palestine surpassing 600 on Sunday, Lekhi's remarks emphasize the proactive stance of the Indian government in addressing the situation. Additionally, BJP MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore expressed India's full support for Israel in its ongoing tensions with Hamas militants.
It is noteworthy that over 300 individuals were killed in Israel as a result of Hamas attacks and subsequent military action, known as Operation Iron Swords, by the Israel Defense Forces. In Gaza, the military action resulted in 313 casualties, bringing the total death toll to 613.
Furthermore, Indian missions in Israel and Palestine have issued advisories for Indian nationals in both regions, urging them to remain vigilant and providing emergency contact information. These advisories also included URLs for Israeli Home Front Command and Preparedness brochures.
