An aged hoarding heralding Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav as the 'future prime minister' of India has resurfaced adjacent to the SP's office in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. A video posted by news agency ANI on Monday showcased the hoarding conspicuously placed on the side of the street bordering the Samajwadi Party's office. The individual responsible for erecting the hoarding was the Samajwadi Party's spokesperson, Fakhrul Hasan Chand.
This same hoarding was initially installed outside the Samajwadi Party's office back in July to commemorate Yadav's 50th birthday. When questioned about the underlying rationale for this action, Chand conveyed to ANI that Samajwadi Party's leaders and workers hold an ardent desire to see Yadav assume the role of India's prime minister. "The aspiration we held for Netaji (the late Mulayam Singh Yadav) to become India's prime minister remained unfulfilled. Thus, our current aspiration is to witness Akhilesh Yadav become the nation's next leader," he affirmed.
Chand elaborated that, even though the INDIA alliance is yet to reveal its prime ministerial nominee for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the Samajwadi Party's members and leaders ardently desire Yadav to serve as the preeminent figurehead of the country. He stated, "Any entity can lay claim to the ability to challenge the BJP, but it is only the Samajwadi Party that can genuinely accomplish this," as he relayed to ANI.
Simultaneously, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representative and Uttar Pradesh Minister Danish Azad Ansari directed a dig at Chand using the phrase, "Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne," which loosely translates to "Mungeri Lal's Beautiful Dreams." He asserted that while no one should be prevented from "daydreaming," such pursuits should align with their "capabilities."
Ansari underscored that under the leadership of PM Modi, the nation continues to advance along the trajectory of development. He highlighted that citizens of the country place their trust in PM Modi and anticipate electing him as the Prime Minister for the third time, as reported by ANI.
This development adds another layer to the ongoing tension between the Samajwadi Party and its alliance partner, Congress, in the INDIA bloc. Yadav has openly criticized the grand old party for its inability to establish a seat-sharing strategy for the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections. He also emphasized that his party's strategy prioritizes 'PDA,' which stands for 'Pichada (backwards), Dalits, and Alpasankhyaks (minorities),' over the INDIA alliance.
