On October 21, Nawaz Sharif will depart the UK and return to Pakistan

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, aged 73, has reportedly made flight reservations to conclude his self-imposed exile in the UK and return to Pakistan on October 21. This return marks the end of a four-year period away from his home country. Nawaz has expressed his eagerness to come back to Pakistan and lead his party in the upcoming election, anticipated to be held in January 2024.

According to sources cited by Samaa TV, Nawaz, who is currently residing in the UK, will arrive at the Abu Dhabi International Airport on October 21. From there, he is scheduled to board a flight to Lahore on the same day. Nawaz has reportedly secured a business class ticket on Etihad Airways flight EY243, which is expected to land at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport at 6:25 p.m. Accompanying Nawaz will be his staff members, as well as personal advisers Dr. Adnan and Senator Irfan Siddiqui.

Sources have also indicated that several PML-N leaders and former lawmakers have booked seats on the same flight from Abu Dhabi to Lahore. Additionally, various members of the PML-N from diverse backgrounds are anticipated to gather at the Abu Dhabi airport to welcome Nawaz upon his arrival.

In a bid to organize a memorable welcome event in Lahore, a prominent PML-N leader has made a unique announcement, offering a brand-new Honda 125 motorcycle as an incentive to individuals who bring large numbers of people to welcome Nawaz Sharif.

Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has previously stated that Nawaz Sharif would not face imprisonment upon his return to Pakistan, asserting that the cases against him are fabricated. He mentioned that a legal strategy had been formulated to address the charges against Nawaz.

Nawaz Sharif resigned from the position of Prime Minister in 2017 after the Supreme Court disqualified him for life from holding public office due to not declaring a receivable salary. Since 2019, he has resided in London following permission granted by the Lahore High Court (LHC) for his overseas medical treatment.

Before departing for the UK, he was serving a seven-year sentence at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat jail in the Al-Azizia Mills case. Additionally, in 2020, an accountability court declared him a proclaimed offender in the Toshakhana vehicles case. He is also facing accusations of acquiring luxury cars from the treasury house by making a minimal payment, equivalent to only 15% of the vehicle prices. Furthermore, Nawaz Sharif was convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018.
