Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his speech at the 'Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yagya' event, underscored the profound significance of Sanatana Dharma. He asserted that Sanatana Dharma stands as the singular religion, while all others represent various sects and modes of worship.
In his address, Yogi Adityanath articulated, "Sanatana Dharma is the only religion, and the rest are all sects and methods of worship. Sanatan is the religion of humanity, and any assault on it would precipitate a global crisis for humanity."
He urged the audience to maintain an open-minded approach to fully grasp the essence of Shrimad Bhagwat, emphasizing that narrow perspectives struggle to encompass the vast teachings it offers.
The context of Yogi Adityanath's statement is the ongoing controversy surrounding Tamil Nadu minister and MK Stalin's son, Udhayanidhi, who made contentious remarks about "eradicating Sanatan Dharma." Udhayanidhi's comments, delivered at an event last month, ignited a nationwide debate, with the BJP particularly critical of his stance.
Udhayanidhi drew parallels between Sanatana Dharma and diseases like 'dengue' and 'malaria,' suggesting that it should not merely be opposed but completely eliminated. He further contended that Sanatana Dharma was at odds with principles of social justice and equality.
He stated, "Certain things cannot be merely opposed; they must be eradicated. We do not oppose diseases like dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or coronavirus; we work toward their eradication. Similarly, we should aim to eradicate Sanatana Dharma. The term ‘Sanatana’ originates from Sanskrit and is contrary to the principles of social justice and equality."
