Puducherry man nabbed for impersonating a probe agency official

In Puducherry, a man who pretended to be an Enforcement Directorate officer found himself in police custody late on Sunday after visiting several MLAs at their homes and inquiring about their income and assets, according to the local authorities.

Shivashankar, an independent legislator who represents the Oulgaret constituency, reported that the individual visited his residence on Sunday, asserting that he was associated with the Enforcement Directorate's Chennai office.

Shivashankar described the visitor as a "fraudulent individual" who arrived on a rented scooter and sought information regarding the legislator's wealth accumulated in recent years.

The MLA grew suspicious of the person's identity and asked for an official ID card, to which the visitor responded that he did not possess one.

When Shivashankar requested the visitor's office phone number, the man claimed not to have it. As his doubts deepened, the MLA promptly contacted the Reddiarpalayam police and handed the individual over to them.

According to Shivashankar, the person identified himself as Arun Kumar, also known as Alwar. The MLA stated that this person had met with seven legislators in Puducherry, including members of both the ruling BJP and the Congress parties.
