On Friday, the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, encountered a noteworthy development as he was denied entry into a gurdwara situated in Scotland. This incident unfolded amid an ongoing diplomatic dispute between India and Canada, centering on the killing of the terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
According to available information, a group of radical British Sikh activists intercepted Doraiswami and explicitly conveyed to him that he was unwelcome within the premises of the gurdwara.
Providing additional insight into this episode, a pro-Khalistan Sikh activist shed light on the circumstances, revealing that they had discovered Doraiswami had scheduled a meeting with the Glasgow Gurdwara committee on Albert Drive.
"A few individuals arrived and expressed to him that his presence was not appreciated. This resulted in a minor confrontation," recounted the activist.
The activist further asserted, "I believe the gurdwara committee may not be pleased with the turn of events. Nevertheless, it appears that Indian officials are met with a lack of reception within any gurdwara across the United Kingdom."
The activist went on to express frustration with what was perceived as a pattern of collusion between the United Kingdom and India, a sentiment that had intensified following the recent tensions arising from the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Additionally, the activist cited concerns related to individuals named Avtar Singh Khanda and Jagtar Singh Johal in this context.
The diplomatic dispute between New Delhi and Ottawa ignited when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on September 18, raised suspicions regarding the "potential" involvement of Indian operatives in the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. India promptly rebuffed these allegations as "absurd" and "motivated," leading to the expulsion of a senior Canadian diplomat in response to Ottawa's expulsion of an Indian official linked to the case.
Meanwhile, it has come to light through sources that pro-Khalistan factions operating from Canada have been enticing vulnerable Sikh youth to relocate to North America by sponsoring their visas. This strategy is pursued with the explicit aim of exploiting these individuals to advance their agenda within Canadian borders.
