Raghav Chadha applauds the court's ruling on the government bungalow as the triumph of truth and justice

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha expressed his gratitude for the Delhi High Court's decision to halt his eviction from the government bungalow he had been allocated. Chadha praised the court's ruling, stating that it was a victory for "truth and justice."

In response to the central government's actions, the AAP leader criticized the cancellation of the bungalow allotment, describing it as a clear case of political vendetta. He also claimed that voices of opposition were being intentionally singled out and targeted.

Sharing his official statement on the matter on a social media platform, Chadha captioned it with, "Ye makan ya dukan ki nahin, Samvidhan ko bachane ki ladai hai (Not a house or a shop, this is the fight to save the Constitution)."

He emphasized that it marked the "first instance in the 70-year history of the Rajya Sabha" where a member was subjected to such "political harassment" for holding the government accountable.

Chadha revealed that his official accommodation was canceled after his initial speech and his membership as a parliamentarian was suspended following his second speech. He asserted that a parliamentarian could not effectively function if constantly concerned about the consequences of candid and honest speeches.

In his statement, he stated, "Not only was this cancellation driven by malicious intent, but it also contained glaring irregularities that clearly violated established rules and regulations. Every Member of Parliament is entitled to official accommodation, and what has been given to me is identical to what many of my fellow first-time MPs have received."

The Delhi High Court, in a recent ruling, set aside a prior order from the Patiala House Court that had paved the way for Chadha's eviction. Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani stated that the trial court's April 18 order, which had directed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat not to evict Chadha, is reinstated and will remain in effect until the trial court makes a decision regarding his application for interim relief.

Raghav Chadha had been allocated a 'Type 7' bungalow on Pandara Road from the Rajya Sabha pool at his request. However, the allotment was canceled in March of this year.
