Rahul criticizes BRS for a job applicant's suicide as a murder of young people's aspirations

On Saturday, the Congress party strongly criticized the government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana concerning the tragic and alleged suicide of a 23-year-old woman who had been diligently preparing for competitive examinations. Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress Member of Parliament, expressed that this incident should not be classified as a suicide but rather as the extinguishing of the dreams and aspirations of the nation's youth.

Gandhi contended that over the past decade, the coalition of the "BJP Rishtedar Samithi - BRS" and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have jointly been responsible for mismanaging and undermining the state's affairs. He expressed his confidence in the Congress government in Telangana, promising that they would introduce a comprehensive job calendar, restructure the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) along the lines of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), and ensure the prompt filling of the two lakh vacant government positions within a year.

The tragic incident occurred when a 23-year-old woman, who was in the midst of preparing for competitive examinations, reportedly took her own life at her hostel in Ashok Nagar, Hyderabad. This incident immediately ignited a wave of protests by government job aspirants who voiced their discontent against the BRS government.

Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Congress party, expressed his profound shock and distress over the suicide. He shared his deep condolences for the family of the deceased during these trying times and commented on the frustration and outrage among the state's youth due to the recurring delays and irregularities in the State Public Service Commission Examinations. He asserted that the young aspirants of Telangana hold the government, which they view as corrupt, incompetent, and inefficient, accountable for their struggles and vowed to replace it in the upcoming state elections.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Rahul Gandhi conveyed his deep sadness upon learning of the young student's tragic suicide. He characterized this incident not as a suicide, but rather as the extinguishing of the dreams, hopes, and aspirations of the youth. He highlighted the severe distress that the youth of Telangana currently face, especially concerning the high levels of unemployment in the region. In a disheartening detail, it was reported that a suicide note was found, in which the woman expressed her apologies to her parents for her perceived inability to do more for them.
