The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor's 17-kilometer priority section is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20. This significant infrastructure project, overseen by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation, represents India's inaugural Regional Rapid Transit System.
The RRTS trains, resembling traditional metro trains in appearance, have been equipped with a variety of passenger-focused amenities. These include convenient luggage carriers and miniature screens within the coaches to enhance the travel experience.
The comprehensive Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, covering a distance of 82.15 kilometers, is anticipated to achieve full operational functionality by June 2025, revolutionizing regional transportation.
These RRTS trains have been thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of modern travelers. Overhead luggage racks, Wi-Fi connectivity, and charging stations for mobile devices and laptops are available to passengers for added convenience.
The inclusion of a deluxe class car in each train is a notable feature, offering wider seating, extra legroom, and even coat hangers for hanging garments. Vending machines on board further elevate the quality of services provided.
Additionally, the trains have designated spaces for individuals with disabilities, including wheelchair areas, as well as provisions for emergency medical transfers with stretcher space.
Safety is of paramount importance, with emergency communication capabilities seamlessly integrated into the coaches. These measures adhere to rigorous International Safety Standards, ensuring a secure and reliable journey for all passengers.
A noteworthy aspect of this project is the commitment to gender diversity within the 17-kilometer primary section. Authorities have revealed that there will be a higher proportion of female staff compared to their male counterparts, emphasizing inclusivity and equal representation in the workforce.
