Actors Shraddha Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Hina Khan, and renowned comedian Kapil Sharma have received summonses from the Enforcement Directorate as part of their investigation into an online betting case.
The Enforcement Directorate has issued summonses to Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan due to their alleged involvement in promoting the app. Kapil Sharma has been summoned for his attendance at the success party of the Mahadev Book app held in Dubai last September. As for Shraddha Kapoor, she has been requested to appear before the central agency on Friday, October 6.
In a related development, Ranbir Kapoor, who was also summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the same case, has requested more time from the central probe agency to appear in person. The Enforcement Directorate is yet to decide whether to grant the actor a two-week extension.
Numerous prominent Bollywood actors and singers are currently under scrutiny by the probe agency in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Mahadev online betting case. A previous India Today report disclosed the names of actors and singers who attended the wedding ceremony of Sourabh Chandrakar, the promoter of the Mahadev Book app, which took place in the UAE in February of this year.
The Mahadev Book app, an online betting platform, is the subject of investigations by the Enforcement Directorate and various state police departments. The company, promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, was operated from Dubai. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that the firm employed the online book betting application to register new users, establish identities, and engage in money laundering through a complex network of undisclosed bank accounts.
