The Ayodhya mosque's design has been altered and will resemble those in the Middle East

The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation announced on Thursday that alterations have been made to the design of the mosque intended to be constructed on a five-acre piece of land in Dhannipur village, Ayodhya, which was granted following the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case.

The IICF, a trust established for the purpose of constructing the mosque and various community facilities on the allotted land, has chosen to switch to a more "grand" design, similar to those seen in Middle Eastern nations, according to trust chairman Zufar Farooqui.

The earlier design of the proposed mosque was inspired by traditional Indian mosque architecture.

Furthermore, the trust has decided to name the mosque after the Prophet 'Mohammad Bin Abdullah,' as per Farooqui's statement to PTI.

He mentioned, "The new design, prepared by an architect based in Pune, has been finalized during a meeting held in Mumbai today. This new mosque will be larger in size than the one proposed in the earlier plan and is expected to accommodate more than 5,000 people once it is completed."

The meeting was attended by religious leaders from various sects, including Sunni, Shia, Barelvi, and Deobandi, as well as representatives from different political parties.

"We are also planning to construct a charitable cancer hospital with 300 beds. Dr. Habil Khorakiwala, the chairman of the pharmaceutical company Wockhardt Group, has consented to establish and manage the hospital as a charitable endeavor," Farooqui added.

While the IICF trust has initiated a fundraising campaign in multiple states across the country, excluding Uttar Pradesh, Farooqui indicated that the construction of the grand mosque in Ayodhya will commence shortly.

However, the layout of the proposed mosque and hospital is currently under the custody of the Ayodhya Development Authority, as the trust is required to pay a sum of Rs 1 crore as "development charges," Farooqui disclosed.

The land allocated for the mosque complex in Dhannipur village was provided to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board by the state government. Dhannipur village is situated approximately 22 kilometers away from the site of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
