On Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a Bhoomi Pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) and laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Naval Gallantry Museum project in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The museum is set to be constructed in CG City, near the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, at a cost of ₹23 crore, as per a press release from the Chief Minister's office.
During the event, CM Yogi emphasized the importance of preserving and drawing inspiration from the glorious moments of the past. He stated that no society or nation can achieve development without acknowledging and respecting its heritage and history, as the past remains an integral part of individuals and society.
Yogi Adityanath mentioned that this occasion marked a historic moment for Lucknow and the state, with the laying of the foundation stone for the Naval Gallantry Museum along the banks of the river Gomti. He noted the significance of this museum as a platform for highlighting the growing strength of the Indian Navy.
As part of the ceremony, CM Yogi planted saplings at the site, and students from Bhatkhande Sanskriti University presented the national anthem. The Indian Navy's band performed a song. Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence that the project would not only boost waterways in Uttar Pradesh but also provide employment opportunities for the youth.
He highlighted the pride associated with the fact that INS Gomti, which had significantly contributed to the Indian Navy for 34 years before being decommissioned, would now be a part of the Bravery Museum. Yogi Adityanath expressed gratitude to the Indian Navy officers for selecting Lucknow as the location for this museum.
The Chief Minister also underscored the educational and inspirational role of the Naval Gallantry Museum in acquainting the younger generation with the bravery and valor of the Indian armed forces. He mentioned that it aligns with Prime Minister Modi's "Make in India" initiative, emphasizing self-reliance.
Yogi Adityanath noted the significance of this year, particularly the establishment of an indigenous symbol for the Navy by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and celebrated these moments of pride.
Finally, CM Yogi proposed the establishment of a police or military memorial in honor of the soldiers from Uttar Pradesh who made supreme sacrifices for internal security and duty across various states after India's independence. He envisioned these memorials as a way to instill respect for the armed forces, paramilitary personnel, and police among future generations.
