The opposition criticizes the KCR administration over a female job applicant's suicide and wants an investigation

Opposition parties in Telangana, including the BJP and Congress, have strongly criticized the K-Chandrasekhar Rao-led government for the tragic death of a 23-year-old woman who aspired to secure a job. They are calling for a thorough investigation into this distressing incident.

The young woman, named Pravallika, tragically took her own life at her hostel in Ashok Nagar, Hyderabad, on Friday. Her untimely death has led to protests by government job aspirants, who are expressing their frustration with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration. Pravallika had been diligently preparing for competitive examinations.

Union Minister and BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy expressed deep sadness upon hearing about Pravallika's death and has demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding it. He emphasized the need for accountability, stating, "It is with a heavy heart that I offer my sincerest condolences on the passing of Kum. Pravallika is a bright and ambitious job seeker. It is truly tragic that her life was cut short due to the negligence of the KCR government. I demand accountability through a probe and justice for this young woman who had so much potential." He further urged students and young people not to lose hope, assuring them of the BJP's unwavering support.

Congress leader Revanth Reddy strongly criticized the Telangana government, asserting that human lives are not valued under KCR's rule. He emphasized the urgent need for the government to address the concerns and grievances of its citizens, especially the youth who face numerous challenges in their pursuit of employment opportunities.

BJP MP K. Laxman pointed out that the BRS government had repeatedly postponed the Group II (teacher recruitment) examinations over the past six to seven months. He asserted that the state government's negligence has resulted in several suicides, particularly among aspiring job seekers.

Congress leader Anil Kumar Yadav staged a protest in front of the hostel where the young woman took her life. He emphasized that the BRS government's actions have amounted to cheating the state's unemployed youth and aspirants who seek government jobs.

In response to this tragedy, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has sought a report from key state officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and Secretary of the State Public Service Commission, within 48 hours. Tensions escalated when a large gathering of students prevented Pravallika's body from being transported to the hospital for post-mortem at Hyderabad's RTC Cross Road. Police had to employ baton charges to restore order, allowing the body to be relocated for examination.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that the young woman's suicide was the result of personal reasons. Nonetheless, opposition parties and protestors are demanding a comprehensive inquiry and greater accountability on the part of the government, particularly with regard to job opportunities and the well-being of the state's aspiring youth.
