A 16-year-old girl, who, according to her family, was forcibly taken from her coaching center and thrown into the Mandakini River, was successfully rescued from the river in Chitrakoot, as reported by the police on Sunday.
The family of the minor has alleged that on the preceding Saturday, she was abducted by two young individuals while attending her coaching classes. These individuals allegedly proceeded to throw her off a bridge into the river, according to their account.
Fortunately, the girl was rescued by some individuals who happened to be bathing in the river at the time of the incident. They promptly alerted the police, who quickly transported the victim to a nearby district hospital for medical attention.
Upon learning of the reported abduction of the minor, Chitrakoot's Superintendent of Police, Vrinda Shukla, directed police teams to investigate the crime scene thoroughly. Additionally, they examined the footage captured by all the CCTV cameras along the route leading to the Mandakini River.
However, Superintendent Shukla expressed some reservations regarding the family's allegations, stating that the available footage only showed the girl walking alone up to a point approximately 10 meters from the river.
Based on the available information, it appears that the girl may have attempted suicide. Superintendent Shukla emphasized that while the situation initially appeared to be different from what was reported, all aspects of the incident would be thoroughly investigated. Any further actions will be taken based on the evidence uncovered during the investigation.
Following the initial medical assessment at the district hospital, the victim was subsequently transferred to the Trauma Center at King George's Medical University (KGMU) for further treatment. The Superintendent of Police added that the minor's condition is currently stable.
