Tomorrow, Nitish Kumar holds an all-party meeting to go through the results of the Bihar caste census

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called for an all-party meeting scheduled for Tuesday, aimed at sharing the comprehensive details of the Bihar caste census report and deliberating on the necessary steps to be taken in light of the findings.

Kumar has extended an invitation to all nine political parties in the state to participate in this meeting. During the session, the government intends to provide a comprehensive breakdown of the calculations underlying the census results and share information about the economic conditions of the surveyed population.

Speaking to reporters, Nitish Kumar expressed, "After completing all the procedures, we have obtained the results. We have assessed the financial status of every household. Tomorrow, during the all-party meeting, we will present all the information to everyone. The government will take requisite actions after considering everyone's input from the meeting."

The Bihar government unveiled the outcomes of its caste-based survey on Monday. The census disclosed that the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) constitute a significant 63 percent of the state's population.

Referred to as the Bihar Jaati Adharit Ganana, the survey data indicated that Scheduled Castes make up over 19 percent of the state's 13-crore population, while Scheduled Tribes represent 1.68 percent. The upper castes, known as 'savarnas,' account for 15.52 percent of Bihar's population.

The survey commenced in January of the current year but was temporarily halted by the Patna High Court, which was overseeing several petitions challenging the survey's conduct. Leaders of the ruling Mahagathbandhan in the state have accused those filing petitions of being "BJP supporters," although the party has refuted these allegations.

Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, emphasized that based on the report's findings, the government will strive to work for the betterment of marginalized communities in the state. He also questioned the BJP about their contributions to the advancement of these backward communities.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav hailed this as a "historic moment" in a post on a social media platform, highlighting that despite numerous obstacles posed by the BJP and legal challenges, the Bihar government managed to release the caste-based survey results.
