UP Girl loses her legs and arm after being thrown onto a railroad track for objecting to sex harassment

A teenage girl in Uttar Pradesh faced a harrowing ordeal that resulted in the loss of both her legs and her left hand, along with multiple fractures. This tragic incident occurred when she was allegedly pushed onto a railway track by two men. According to reports, these accused individuals had made an attempt to molest her, and when she resisted their advances, they resorted to pushing her in front of a moving train.

Currently, the girl is in critical condition and undergoing extensive medical treatment at a private hospital.

Her uncle, providing an account of the incident, revealed that the accused had intercepted her while she was en route to her coaching class on a fateful Tuesday. They allegedly made unwanted advances towards her, and when she vehemently protested, they resorted to the shocking act of pushing her onto the railway track.

In response to this horrifying incident, the girl's uncle identified the two men, both hailing from the same village, in his formal complaint. Subsequently, a case was registered, leading to the arrest of the two individuals. He further disclosed that they had subjected her to molestation a few months ago as well.

The girl's family has claimed that they previously reported the inappropriate behavior of these men to the local police station. However, despite their complaints, no discernible action was taken to address the situation.

In the midst of this distressing situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has extended financial support by offering Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the afflicted girl's family. Additionally, he has assured that the state will cover the costs associated with her medical treatment.

Furthermore, as a response to the alleged negligence in handling the case, three police officials have been suspended from their duties. This stern action was taken to address the perceived laxity in addressing the distressing situation.
