In the Belagavi district of Karnataka, a distressing incident unfolded as a woman faced public humiliation, having been garlanded with slippers and paraded in the streets.
This degrading act was carried out by a group of 13 individuals who leveled accusations against her, claiming her involvement in establishing physical relations with men and subsequently extorting money from them. The authorities have arrested one individual linked to this incident.
The woman was forcibly removed from her residence and subjected to the degrading act in full view of the public.
One local resident alleged that the woman had engaged in deceitful practices, targeting both farmers and officers, by employing tactics like honeytrapping to blackmail and defraud them. Allegations even extended to instances of defrauding police officers of sums ranging from Rs 10 to 12 lakh.
Responding to this disturbing event, the Karnataka BJP expressed concern on X, highlighting the decline in the state's law and order. They noted that Karnataka, once known for its peace, tranquility, and progress, is now at risk of descending into a state of unrest and chaos. They further criticized the current government leadership, referring to them as rowdy and unscrupulous.
The incident in Gokak serves as a stark illustration of the deterioration of the state's law and order, as noted by the Karnataka BJP. They went on to question the effectiveness of women's protection and self-reliance in the state, expressing concerns about the existing state of affairs under the leadership of Siddaramaiah.
