Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, arrives in Spain to meet with European leaders

On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his arrival in the Spanish city of Granada to participate in the European Political Community Summit. This summit serves as a forum for fostering cooperation among more than 40 countries, and it was established following Russia's invasion.

European leaders gathered in Granada are expected to offer Zelenskyy long-term support, particularly in light of concerns voiced by US President Joe Biden regarding potential Republican infighting in Congress and its impact on American policy concerning continued aid to Kyiv.

Zelenskyy took to social media, formerly known as Twitter, to express the shared goal of ensuring the security and stability of their common European home. He emphasized collaborative efforts with partners to enhance the European security architecture, with a particular focus on regional security. Zelenskyy also highlighted Ukraine's significant proposals in this regard.

In addition to regional security, special attention will be directed towards the Black Sea region and joint initiatives aimed at strengthening global food security and the freedom of navigation.

Russia withdrew from an agreement in July that had previously allowed Ukraine to safely transport food products via the Black Sea, which has traditionally been Kyiv's primary export route. In response, Ukraine established a temporary "humanitarian corridor" for cargo vessels, leading to several ships departing from Ukraine's Black Sea ports.

Regarding Ukraine's key priorities, especially with winter approaching, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of strengthening air defense. While he did not provide specific details, Ukraine, heavily reliant on Western allies for arms, is concerned about the possibility of Russia launching a new wave of air strikes on energy facilities during the winter season.

Zelenskyy expressed optimism about the day's proceedings, emphasizing its potential for productivity, not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe.
