The individuals accused of shooting Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, namely Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, were apprehended in Chandigarh on Saturday, four days after the fatal incident. Alongside them was Udham Singh, an accomplice alleged to have facilitated their escape from law enforcement. The accused, in an effort to avoid capture, reportedly traversed through Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab over a four-day span, employing counterfeit identification to secure accommodations in a Chandigarh hotel, where they were eventually arrested.
The sequence of events unfolded as follows: Following the killing of Gogamedi in Jaipur on December 5, Rathore and Fauji fled to Didwana by taxi and subsequently traveled to Delhi by bus. Progressing further, they disembarked in Dharuhera, Haryana, taking an autorickshaw to Rewari railway station, where they boarded a train bound for Hisar. CCTV footage from the Hisar railway station captured the presence of Rathore and Fauji on December 6.
Subsequently, the duo met Udham Singh, a connection dating back to their shared military training four years prior. With Singh's assistance, they took a taxi to Manali in Himachal Pradesh, stayed for a brief period, and returned to Chandigarh on December 9. The trio utilized forged Aadhar cards with pseudonyms to secure lodging at Hotel Kamal Palace in Chandigarh, where they were eventually apprehended following a tip-off.
Upon arrest, Rohit and Udham were taken to Delhi by the Delhi Police Crime Branch, while Nitin Fauji remained in the custody of the Rajasthan Police. Interrogation revealed that the murder was orchestrated on the orders of Rohit Godara, a wanted gangster and arms dealer in Rajasthan, and his associate Virendra Charan. Nitin Fauji, during questioning, admitted to assisting in Gogamedi's killing under the promise of a fake passport and a Canadian visa from Godara and Charan, who allegedly guaranteed Rs 50,000 each and advised them to stay underground until they received the promised documents. Additionally, it was disclosed that Rohit Rathore had a prior criminal record and had served time in jail.
