A four-day chase resulted in the escaped kangaroo punching a Canadian police officer in the face

On Monday, a kangaroo that had managed to escape its handlers during transportation to a new home was successfully apprehended east of Toronto after spending a weekend in the wild. However, the capture wasn't without a memorable incident, as the kangaroo delivered a punch to the face of one of the police officers involved in bringing her adventure to an end.

The female kangaroo made her daring escape by hopping over her handlers during a rest stop at the Oshawa Zoo and Fun Farm in Ontario late on Thursday, as reported by the park's supervisor and headkeeper, Cameron Preyde, in an interview with CBC. Videos circulated on social media on Friday, showcasing the marsupial, born in captivity, traversing roads in Oshawa, a town located on Lake Ontario approximately 37 miles (60 km) east of Toronto.

In the early hours of Monday, officers on patrol discovered the kangaroo on a rural property in northern Oshawa, according to Staff Sergeant Chris Boileau, who shared details with CBC Toronto. Upon spotting the kangaroo, the officers promptly contacted its handlers and followed instructions to seize it by the tail. During the capture, the kangaroo unexpectedly punched one of the officers in the face, leaving a lasting memory for the entire team, as noted by Boileau.

The kangaroo, originally en route to a zoo in Quebec, underwent necessary medical treatment and is now set to stay at the Oshawa Zoo for a few days of rest, as confirmed by Preyde. He remarked, "We're going to keep her here for a little while longer, let her rest up, and make sure she is safe."
