Following the announcement of the Rajasthan Assembly election results, wherein the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a significant victory by securing 115 seats, the newly elected BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya from the Hawa Mahal constituency in Jaipur took proactive measures. In response to the BJP's triumph in the state, Acharya directed the closure of all non-vegetarian food stalls situated along the streets in the area.
A video circulating on social media captured the BJP MLA engaging with an officer, instructing him to close down the roadside establishments serving non-vegetarian fare by the evening. In the video, Acharya is seen questioning the officer about the permissibility of openly selling non-vegetarian food on the streets and unequivocally demanding the immediate shutdown of all such stalls. He asserted that he would seek a report from the officer later in the evening and emphasized that the identity of the officer involved was of no concern to him.
The move by Acharya sparked a response from Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), who expressed astonishment at such an order. Owaisi deemed the directive as "incorrect" and asserted that no one should have the authority to prevent the establishment of a non-vegetarian food stall if someone desires to set one up.
In the recently concluded elections, BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya secured victory in Rajasthan's Hawa Mahal Assembly seat with a margin of 600 votes, defeating Congress candidate RR Tiwari. While the BJP emerged victorious in the Rajasthan Assembly polls, the Congress trailed significantly with 69 seats. Independent candidates secured eight seats, and the Bharat Adivasi Party secured victories in three seats. Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) secured two seats, with one each going to the Rashtriya Lok Dal and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party.
