Arjun Munda to become Union Agriculture Minister after Narendra Tomar's resignation

Following Narendra Tomar's resignation as MP after securing victory in the Dimani Assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh with 79,137 votes, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda is set to take on the additional responsibility of overseeing the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Arjun Munda, a three-time Chief Minister of Jharkhand, assumed the role of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs in May 2019.

President Droupadi Murmu, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, formally accepted Narendra Tomar's resignation on Thursday and appointed Arjun Munda to helm the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, augmenting his current portfolio.

In tandem with Tomar's departure, the President also acknowledged the resignations of BJP leaders Prahlad Singh Patel and Renuka Singh Saruta from the Union cabinet. Prahlad Patel emerged victorious in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections from the Narsingpur constituency, while Renuka Singh secured a win from the Bharatpur-Sonhat assembly seat in Chhattisgarh. These changes signify a recalibration in ministerial responsibilities within the Union government.
