Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai promises to fulfill PM's guarantees

Vishnu Deo Sai has been selected by the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, bringing an end to the suspense surrounding the appointment of the state's chief executive. This significant decision was announced after a crucial meeting convened in Raipur, wherein the BJP's 54 newly-elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Chhattisgarh played a pivotal role.

Upon being chosen as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his commitment to fulfilling the promises articulated by the BJP to the people of the state under the banner of "Modi ki Guarantee." Emphasizing the party's commitment, he highlighted the immediate priority of sanctioning 18 lakh houses for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana as the inaugural action of the Chhattisgarh government.

The BJP's electoral manifesto for the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, titled 'Modi ki Guarantee 2023,' underscored the party's pledges and commitments to the electorate.

Following the announcement of Vishnu Deo Sai as the Chief Minister-designate, he promptly met with Chhattisgarh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan to formally stake a claim to form the government in the state.

During the recently concluded Chhattisgarh Assembly polls, the BJP, strategically refraining from declaring a Chief Ministerial candidate, emerged victorious with an impressive tally of 54 seats out of the total 90. Subsequently, Bhupesh Baghel, the incumbent Chief Minister from the Congress party, resigned on December 3 following the BJP's triumph.

In a gesture of goodwill, Baghel extended his congratulations to Vishnu Deo Sai on being chosen for the Chief Ministerial role, expressing his hope for the continued journey of justice and progress in Chhattisgarh under the new leadership.

Vishnu Deo Sai, the newly-appointed Chief Minister, secured victory in the Kunkuri Assembly seat with a total of 87,604 votes. A former state chief of the BJP, he was identified as the party's preferred tribal face for the Chief Minister's position. His political career has seen him hold various offices, including Union Minister of State for Steel in the First Modi ministry, and he served as the Member of Parliament for the Raigarh constituency of Chhattisgarh in the 16th Lok Sabha. Notably, he also assumed the role of BJP Chhattisgarh chief from 2020 to 2022.
