HD Kumaraswamy on Siddaramaiah's statement about "minorities": Appeasement politics

On Tuesday, the president of the Karnataka Janata Dal (Secular), HD Kumaraswamy, accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of engaging in what he termed as "appeasement politics." This accusation came after Siddaramaiah announced that the Karnataka government had augmented the funds allocated for the minorities department.

During an event, Siddaramaiah stated, "Every year, we consistently enhance funds for the minorities department within our government. We have decided to allocate Rs 4,000 crore for the minorities department. The previous government reduced the funds allocated for minorities, but I have increased it again this year since our government came into power."

In response to Siddaramaiah's announcement, HD Kumaraswamy asserted that the Chief Minister frequently made "such statements everywhere he went" and accused him of practicing "appeasement politics." The JD(S) leader added that there had been no development in the state for six months.

In light of the BJP's victories in three states, including two Congress-ruled states, in the recently held assembly elections, HD Kumaraswamy predicted that the BJP government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would also secure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

As the Winter Session of the Karnataka Assembly commenced on Monday, HD Kumaraswamy outlined his plans to address issues such as development, corruption, and droughts during the sessions. This exchange of statements underscores the political dynamics and differing perspectives within the state's political landscape.
