On Sunday, two coaches of a goods train experienced derailment in the vicinity of Kasara railway station in Maharashtra, as reported by the Central Railways. This incident prompted the Central Railways to divert the routes of 11 express trains, with particular disruptions affecting mail express traffic on the Kasara to Igatpuri downline and the middle line. Notably, the upline traffic on the segment between Igatpuri to Kasara remained unaffected by the derailment.
The 11 express trains impacted by the rerouting include the 17612 Mumbai CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) Nanded Express, 12105 CSMT Gondia Express, 12137 CSMT-Firozpur Punjab Mail Express, 12289 CSMT Nagpur Duronto Express, 12111 CSMT Amaravati Express, 12809 CSMT Howrah Express, 17057 CSMT-Secunderabad Express, 12322 CSMT Howrah Express, 18029 LTT Shalimar Express, 12167 LTT Varanasi Express, and 12141 LTT Patliputra Express.
Despite the incident, Mumbai suburban train services were reportedly unaffected, as confirmed by the Central Railways. To address the situation, two accident relief trains were dispatched to the site—one from Kalyan and another from Igatpuri.
