Kerala Muslim organization "blames" the CPI(M) government for encouraging interfaith unions

A prominent leader of the Samastha Kerala Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS), a Kerala Muslim body, has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI(M), along with its youth wing organizations - Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Students Federation of India (SFI) - of actively promoting inter-faith marriages. Speaking during an event organized by the Sunni Mahal Federation in Kozhikode, the Muslim leader, Nazar Faizi Koodathayi, claimed on Wednesday that the CPI(M) and its affiliated groups engage in the alleged practice of kidnapping Muslim girls and orchestrating marriages with non-Muslim boys. According to Koodathayi, this purported strategy is aimed at the "eradication of Islamic identity."

During his address, Koodathayi expressed concern over what he perceives as a deliberate agenda by the CPI(M), DYFI, and SFI to encourage inter-faith marriages, particularly involving Muslim girls. He contended that these actions, purportedly supported by party leaders, are orchestrated in party offices. Koodathayi emphasized the need for Mahallu Committees to unite and oppose what he characterized as a "disastrous campaign" designed to erase Islamic identity. He further asserted that such activities must not be allowed to take place within party offices.

However, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) swiftly rejected these allegations. VK Sanoj, the state secretary of DYFI, countered the claims by stating that marriage is a personal choice, emphasizing the principle that "nobody has the right to stand between a person and their choices." This rebuttal by DYFI underscores their position that marriage decisions should remain individual and private matters.
