Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took a critical stance against Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in light of the ongoing Income Tax department raid on properties associated with him, during which over Rs 290 crore was seized. Poonawalla's commentary extended to scrutiny of Sahu's past tweets, specifically those criticizing demonetization, which gained traction on social media amidst the ongoing investigation.
Taking to a social media platform, Poonawalla remarked, "Oh, now one can understand why Dheeraj Sahu and Congress were opposing demonetization so much," about Sahu's previous stance against demonetization. He also labeled the Congress as a "corrupt shop," employing the phrase "Corruption Ki Dukan me Beimani Ka Saaman" to underscore his criticism of the party's integrity.
Poonawalla delved into further speculation, posing a rhetorical question about the financial holdings of multiple Members of Parliament within the Congress party. Specifically, he questioned, "If one MP has Rs 500 crore, how much do 52 MPs have," drawing attention to the total strength of the Congress in the Lok Sabha.
In a closing assertion, Poonawalla summarized his viewpoint by stating, "Congress = Ghotale ki guarantee" (Congress is equal to a guarantee of corruption), reinforcing his perception of the party as synonymous with corruption.
The Income Tax raid on Dheeraj Sahu's properties, spanning locations in Odisha and Jharkhand, has resulted in the recovery of cash exceeding Rs 290 crore. The extensive counting process necessitated the deployment of numerous officials and cash-counting machines. Initially, more than 30 officers, along with bank staff, were engaged in the counting process, and to expedite the process, approximately 40 large and small machines were deployed, accompanied by additional department and bank personnel.
However, given the substantial amount of cash yet to be counted, authorities made the decision to introduce supplementary cash-counting machines and additional personnel to accelerate the ongoing counting process.
