In Pakistan's Karachi, unknown assailants targeted and fatally shot Hanzla Adnan, a prominent Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist recognized for orchestrating the 2015 Udhampur attack on a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir. Hanzla Adnan considered a close associate of LeT chief Hafiz Saeed, a key figure behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, fell victim to the gunfire outside his residence during the nights of December 2 and 3, sustaining four bullets.
The Pakistani army discreetly transported the LeT operative to a Karachi hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on December 5. Notably, Hanzla Adnan had recently relocated his operational base from Rawalpindi to Karachi.
In the 2015 Udhampur attack, masterminded by Adnan, two BSF soldiers lost their lives, and 13 others sustained injuries. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had undertaken the investigation, subsequently filing a chargesheet in connection with the assault.
Hanzla Adnan was also responsible for coordinating a terrorist attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore area in 2016. This attack resulted in the tragic loss of eight CRPF soldiers' lives and left 22 others injured.
Sources indicate that Adnan had been dispatched to a LeT training camp in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, tasked with inspiring newly-recruited terrorists. Supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Pakistani army, his mission involved infiltrating India and executing terrorist activities.
The demise of Hanzla Adnan follows the recent passing of Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale's nephew, in Pakistan on December 2, reportedly due to a heart attack. Singh Rode had been actively involved in anti-India terrorist activities in Punjab at the behest of Pakistan's ISI.
