Shivraj Singh Chouhan has unequivocally conveyed that he has never positioned himself as a contender for the Chief Minister's role in Madhya Pradesh, underscoring his dedicated identity as a party worker. On Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asserted that he neither harbored aspirations for the Chief Ministerial post in the past nor does he entertain such aspirations presently.
In a video message, Chouhan emphasized, "Neither was I the CM contender earlier nor now. I am just a party worker, and whatever post or duty the party will entrust to me, I am committed to fulfilling that responsibility."
Later in the day, during interactions with reporters, Chouhan articulated his decision not to travel to Delhi to meet with the BJP leadership. He articulated, "I won't be going to Delhi. Tomorrow, I will go to Chhindwara, where we were unable to secure victory in all 7 seats of the Vidhan Sabha. I have only one resolution; BJP should emerge triumphant in all 29 MP seats during the 2024 Lok Sabha election."
The declaration comes in the wake of the state assembly poll results announced on Sunday, wherein the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained dominance in Madhya Pradesh by clinching 163 seats in the 230-member Assembly, significantly surpassing the Congress, which managed a distant second with a mere 66 seats, a decline from the 114 seats secured in the 2018 edition.
With a commanding two-thirds majority in the state assembly, the BJP asserted its dominance by winning 163 of the 230 seats, relegating the Congress to a distant second at 66 seats. Chief Minister Chouhan further solidified his political standing by securing victory in his traditional Budhni seat for the sixth consecutive time, achieving a record margin of 1,04,974 votes and defeating Congress candidate Vikram Mastal Sharma. Chouhan's unwavering commitment to his party role and his focus on grassroots efforts for future electoral success underscores his dedication to the party's cause.
