On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a compensation package of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of six individuals, including two children, who tragically lost their lives in the Mau district due to the collapse of a wall. Additionally, he pledged financial aid of Rs 50,000 for the families of those injured in the incident. Notably, Chief Minister Adityanath affirmed that the state government would cover all medical treatment expenses incurred by the injured.
Expressing concern over the incident, Yogi Adityanath directed officials to launch a thorough investigation into the matter and take appropriate actions against those deemed responsible for the unfortunate incident.
The tragic event unfolded on Friday in Mau during a wedding ritual in the Ghosi area, claiming the lives of six people, including two children, while leaving 23 others injured. Preliminary reports suggest that the collapse occurred when a mound of sand was positioned on the opposite side of the wall, leading to its collapse and trapping individuals during the ceremony.
According to the District Magistrate of Mau, the incident transpired as local women were participating in the ritual near an aged wall, and the wall collapsed, resulting in the tragic turn of events.
In the aftermath of the incident, emergency response measures were promptly implemented, with the deployment of an earthmover to clear the debris. All individuals trapped under the collapsed structure were successfully rescued and swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
In addition to the financial assistance provided to the affected families, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's emphasis on a comprehensive investigation and accountability underscores the commitment of the state government to address the circumstances surrounding the wall collapse. The tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety measures during events and ceremonies to prevent such unfortunate occurrences in the future.
