21 stray dogs are shot dead in a Telangana village; investigation by the police

In a deeply distressing turn of events, it has been reported that a group of unidentified perpetrators took the lives of at least 21 stray dogs through gunfire in a village nestled within the bounds of Telangana. This appalling act has sparked outrage, leading law enforcement agencies to launch a thorough investigation.

The tragic incident unfolded in the serene confines of Ponnakal village, situated within the precincts of Mahabubnagar district. It is disheartening to note that this village is merely 2 kilometers distant from a bustling National Highway, where such violence against defenseless creatures occurred.

The assailants, armed with firearms, ruthlessly executed this heinous act, leaving behind a trail of devastation that extended to numerous other dogs who sustained injuries in the onslaught. The Animal Husbandry Department undertook the grim task of conducting post-mortem examinations on the deceased canines, shedding light on the brutal manner in which their lives were snuffed out.

The Addakal Sub-Inspector of Police, Srinivas, has raised suspicions regarding the modus operandi employed, suggesting that the dogs might have been both poisoned and shot at close range, potentially with locally fashioned weaponry. However, the absence of surveillance cameras in the village and along the adjacent highway has posed significant challenges to the ongoing investigation, prompting authorities to take measures towards the installation of such monitoring devices.

As the investigation progresses, the motive behind this barbaric act remains shrouded in mystery. To aid in gathering crucial evidence, a specialized clues team has been deployed, focusing on identifying any empty cartridges found at the crime scene.

Moreover, it has come to light that two of the deceased dogs showed no signs of gunshot wounds, indicating the possibility of poisoning as an additional cause of death. This revelation further underscores the severity of the situation and the urgency of bringing the perpetrators to justice.
