A 3.8-magnitude earthquake occurs in Punjab's Tarn Taran



A seismic event measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale shook the Tarn Taran region of Punjab on Monday evening, according to reports from the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake, originating at a depth of 40 kilometers below the surface, was pinpointed at latitude 31.22 and longitude 74.62.

The NCS, in a statement posted on X, provided details of the earthquake, specifying its magnitude, occurrence time (26-02-2024, 21:23:42 IST), and geographic coordinates. Despite the tremor, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The incident follows a similar seismic activity on Sunday when a 3.0 magnitude earthquake jolted Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the NCS, this earthquake occurred at 11:48 am, with its epicenter located at latitude 33.34 and longitude 76.84, and at a depth of 5 kilometers.
