A BJP worker's body was discovered inside a playschool in Delhi; police believe she was strangled

The discovery of the deceased body of a woman, identified as Versha, aged 32 and affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was reported within a playschool premise situated in Delhi's Narela vicinity on Wednesday, as conveyed by law enforcement officials.

As per police reports, Versha, a resident of Swantantra Nagar in Narela, had been reported missing since February 24, prompting her father, Vijay Kumar, to file a missing person report with the authorities.

Versha's association with the BJP was noted by investigators.

Vijay Kumar revealed that Versha had embarked on a journey on her scooter on February 23 and was last spotted in the company of her business partner, Sohan Lal.

Further details provided by Vijay Kumar indicated that Versha and Sohan had jointly initiated the establishment of the Tiny Dream Berry Playschool on Ghonda Road; however, the facility had not commenced operations at the time.

Concern heightened when Vijay Kumar received a call on February 24, purportedly from an unfamiliar individual situated in Harshana, Sonipat, near a railway track, claiming that an individual was contemplating suicide by rail.

Subsequently, Vijay Kumar was video-called by this person, who identified the potential suicide victim as Sohan. Despite Vijay Kumar's efforts to locate Sohan upon reaching Hashana, he proved elusive.

Although a thorough search of the playschool premises was conducted by law enforcement authorities, no significant discoveries were made, with access to the locked ground floor office remaining unattainable.

Tracking Sohan's mobile phone activity led investigators to Barauta in Haryana; however, efforts to locate both Sohan and Versha proved futile.

Under these circumstances, Vijay Kumar personally visited the playschool on February 28 and sought the landlord's assistance in unsealing the school shutter. Upon gaining entry, Versha's lifeless body was discovered behind the primary desk, prompting Vijay Kumar to alert the authorities.

Initial examination revealed that Versha's dupatta was wound around her neck, indicating possible strangulation as the cause of death.

Meanwhile, inquiries made with the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Sonipat revealed the discovery of an unidentified body on the railway tracks on February 25, suspected to be that of Sohan Lal.

Presently, investigations are leaning towards the hypothesis that Sohan might have committed suicide after perpetrating Versha's demise.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the case, with ongoing efforts dedicated to unraveling the intricacies of the incident, as per official statements.
