A mechanical issue causes an emergency landing for an Air Force helicopter in Punjab; the crew is safe

On Saturday, an IAF Chinook helicopter, operated by the Indian Air Force, conducted an emergency landing in the Sangrur district of Punjab due to suspected technical issues, according to officials.

The helicopter safely touched down on an open ground in the Dhadrian village of Longowal in Sangrur around 1 pm. Promptly, engineers were dispatched from Barnala in another helicopter to address the identified technical faults.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries arising from this incident. Both the crew members and the helicopter itself are reported to be unharmed.

The Chinook helicopter, known for its tandem-rotor design, was initially developed by the American rotorcraft company Vertol and is presently manufactured by companies like Boeing Defense and Space & Security. Renowned for its versatility, the Chinook serves various roles, including troop transportation, artillery movement, equipment transfer, and fuel transport.
