An Andhra Pradesh sufferer, age 41, is saved by the heart of a brain-dead guy

A 28-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district, who had been declared brain-dead, generously donated his heart, which was subsequently transplanted into a 41-year-old patient receiving treatment at a hospital in Tirupati. The organ's journey from donor to recipient was facilitated by an intricate process involving the implementation of a "Green Channel" to expedite its transport.

The recipient of this life-saving heart, Sridhar, aged 41, had been undergoing medical care at Sri Padmavathi Children's Hospital in Tirupati. The groundbreaking transplant surgery, hailed as a remarkable achievement in the field of medicine, was successfully conducted during the night hours on Monday.

The heart's journey commenced with its swift airlifting from Srikakulam to Visakhapatnam, followed by a seamless transfer to Renigunta via a specially arranged flight. From Renigunta, the organ was expeditiously transported to the Tirupati hospital, arriving at approximately 10:20 pm on Monday evening, thereby ensuring its timely availability for the critical transplant procedure.
