India Today reported that Ishika Jha, a third-year engineering student enrolled at the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Bhagalpur, has secured a lucrative job offer worth ₹83 lakhs during her campus placement. Her remarkable achievement stems from her outstanding performance in the Google Hackathon's final round, where she showcased a project focused on predicting forest fires utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. This innovative project, coupled with her exceptional performance, positioned her among the top 2.5% of candidates.
Currently, Ishika is actively involved in honing her technical skills through competitive coding endeavors and exploring web development. Her journey in the realm of computer science began in her childhood, sparking a deep-seated passion for leveraging technology to address real-world challenges.
Ishika's attainment of such a substantial job offer, typically reserved for students from prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, and NIT, marks a significant milestone. Her accomplishment transcends conventional barriers, underscoring the notion that genuine talent knows no bounds.
It is noteworthy that the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Bhagalpur, established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, operates under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. This institution, a collaborative effort between the central government (50%), the Bihar government (35%), and BELTRON (15%), commenced its academic activities in 2017.
