Congress MLA from Tamil Nadu joins the BJP due to internal conflicts

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Congress MLA S Vijayadharani officially became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party's headquarters in New Delhi.

Vijayadharani, a well-known figure within the Tamil Nadu Congress, represents the Vilvancode constituency in Kanyakumari district, where the BJP holds significant influence.

Recent speculations suggested her departure from the Congress, reportedly due to internal party disagreements. It was rumored that she was dissatisfied with senior leader Selvaperunthagai, who was formerly the CLP leader and was recently appointed as the Tamil Nadu Congress president.

Following her induction into the BJP, Vijayadharani expressed her admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, emphasizing its significance for the nation.

"I have been associated with the Congress since the inception of my political journey. This is the first time I am transitioning to a different party. Under the guidance of PM Modi, India has gained considerable prominence on the global stage... It is crucial to strengthen the BJP," remarked the former Congress MLA.

She further underscored the importance of Modi's leadership, stating, "Modiji's leadership is indispensable for the progress of our country."

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai extended a warm welcome to Vijayadharani, expressing confidence that her inclusion would bolster the Tamil Nadu BJP's presence and activities.
