Former leader of the Janata Dal (United) calls his party Rastriya Lok Manch

Former Union minister Upendra Kushwaha declared on Sunday that the political party he established after his separation from JD(U) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will now bear the name 'Rashtriya Lok Manch'.

Kushwaha, who initially christened the nascent organization as the ‘Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal’, revealed that the new nomenclature has received official approval from the Election Commission.

"Following our initial application for the name Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal, the EC requested us to propose additional alternatives. We submitted five alternatives, and the EC approved Rashtriya Lok Manch,” he elaborated.

As a junior coalition partner of the NDA in Bihar, Kushwaha also expressed his confidence that his party would play a significant role in securing victory for the BJP-led coalition across all 40 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

Furthermore, he derided RJD president Lalu Prasad for suggesting that his doors remained open for Nitish Kumar, who rejoined the NDA less than a month ago.

"Lalu ji appears to be disheartened by the JD(U)’s departure, which resulted in the RJD's loss of power. Consequently, he has been making statements that lack coherence,” Kushwaha remarked.
