In Jamtara, Jharkhand, a train runs over two individuals who are strolling on a track

According to an official statement released by the Eastern Railway, tragically, two individuals lost their lives in an incident where they were struck by a passenger train in Jamtara, Jharkhand, on Wednesday evening.

As per the statement, the victims were walking along the railway track when they were fatally struck by the Jhajha-Asansol Memu passenger train.

Initially, reports were suggesting that the deceased individuals were passengers of the Anga Express, which was running parallel to the Memu passenger train. It was reported that the Anga Express had halted due to a fire alert, prompting passengers to disembark, after which they were unfortunately hit by the Memu train.

However, the Eastern Railway's statement refuted these claims, asserting that the accident occurred at least 2 kilometers away from where the Anga Express had stopped. Additionally, the Railway categorically denied any occurrence of a fire incident on the Anga Express.

To delve further into the matter, a 3-member committee of the Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) has been constituted to conduct a thorough investigation into the unfortunate accident.
