In the lengthy Mumbai airport wait for an Air India wheelchair, he decided to walk before passing away

A senior Air India passenger, aged over 80, tragically passed away after collapsing at Mumbai airport during the immigration process. The incident occurred on February 12, following the passenger's initial request for a wheelchair, which was made due to mobility constraints. However, faced with a substantial demand for wheelchairs, the passenger, along with their spouse, decided to proceed on foot despite the airline's suggestion to wait for staff-assisted assistance.

Confirming the passenger's age, an airline spokesperson expressed condolences regarding the unfortunate event. According to Air India, the passenger fell ill while navigating through immigration alongside their spouse, who was utilizing a wheelchair.

Upon falling ill, airport medical personnel promptly attended to the passenger, recommending immediate transfer to the hospital. Despite efforts, the passenger was declared deceased upon arrival at the medical facility.

Air India emphasized its commitment to supporting the deceased passenger's family during this difficult time and highlighted its established policy of providing wheelchair assistance to pre-booked passengers in need of such aid.
