"Indian alliance already over, had rejected to its name earlier," claims Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at the helm of the newly established NDA government in Bihar, conveyed to reporters on Saturday his dissent towards labeling the Opposition coalition as 'INDIA'. He emphasized that he had reservations about this nomenclature, expressing his belief that the coalition had already disintegrated, and emphasized his dedication to serving the people's interests.

Speaking to the press in Patna, Kumar elaborated, stating, "I made efforts to advocate for an alternative name for the coalition as I had envisioned something different." He continued, "The coalition had long ceased to exist... Presently, my focus is on serving the populace of Bihar and will persist in these endeavors."

Kumar's comments arose amidst the backdrop of National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah and RLD leader Jayant Singh distancing themselves from the INDIA coalition.

In addition, in response to RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav's statement regarding keeping the "doors open," Nitish Kumar remarked, "It's irrelevant who says what... Matters were not proceeding smoothly, hence my departure from them (RJD)."

On Friday, Lalu Prasad had remarked that the party always welcomed Nitish Kumar.

Prasad, who has maintained a subdued stance following his party's loss of power due to the JD(U) president's change of allegiance, responded to journalists' inquiries.

The two leaders were observed on Thursday exchanging warm greetings within the Vidhan Sabha premises. Prasad, who predominantly remained indoors since his kidney transplant surgery two years ago, had visited to bolster the spirits of Manoj Jha and Sanjay Yadav, both of whom had submitted nomination papers as RJD candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections.
