Kerala BJP's musical gaffe: song demands to topple the party's own central government

A slip-up in the song selection for a state-wide padayatra has caused embarrassment for the Kerala BJP, as the chosen anthem, picked just two days prior as the official soundtrack for BJP State president K Surendran’s extensive padayatra, contained a line that cast criticism on the party’s governance at the Centre.

Specifically, the line translated to, "Come together to wash away the power forces at Centre, famous for corruption."

The repercussions were immediate, triggering an inundation of social media platforms with trolls and meme pages sharing the contentious song. Although the Kerala BJP swiftly retracted the song, it continues to circulate on various social media platforms.

According to BJP insiders, the song was utilized as background music during the live-streaming of the padayatra.

"In the initial live streams, the audio was muted. However, when the yatra reached Ponnani, the song was added. It was originally crafted during the UPA rule," disclosed sources.

"It was an oversight from the IT Cell's end," party sources admitted.

Meanwhile, the BJP leadership has requested a written clarification from the head of the IT Cell regarding this mishap.
