Madhya Pradesh's Congress-Samajwadi Party seat-sharing agreement also References

According to sources, following discussions between Congress and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, it appears that negotiations for seat-sharing are now progressing in Madhya Pradesh as well. It is reported that Congress may extend an offer to the Samajwadi Party for the Khajuraho seat in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This indication suggests that the agreement reached between the two political blocs in Uttar Pradesh may potentially expand to encompass Madhya Pradesh as well.

The recent developments follow SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's confirmation of ongoing alliance talks with the Congress in Uttar Pradesh. Sources earlier revealed that an agreement had been reached between the two parties, with Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra engaging in discussions with Akhilesh Yadav on the matter.

Putting an end to speculation surrounding seat-sharing arrangements, Akhilesh Yadav disclosed on Wednesday that Congress would contest 17 seats, while the Samajwadi Party and its allies would vie for 63 seats in Uttar Pradesh. In light of this, Congress has relinquished its demand for the Moradabad seat and is now seeking representation in Sitapur, Shravasti, and Varanasi constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.

When questioned about his absence from Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Amethi and Rae Bareli, Akhilesh Yadav reassured that all is well and emphasized that there is no dispute, affirming the inevitability of an alliance. He had previously stated that his participation in Rahul Gandhi's yatra would be contingent upon finalizing seat-sharing arrangements.

Earlier reports suggested that the Samajwadi Party had proposed offering 17 seats to Congress as a "final offer" before the Lok Sabha elections. However, concerns were raised that Congress was being disadvantaged by receiving constituencies with low winnability, prompting the party to request alternative seats.
