Navi commander said that two Indian warships would participate in the naval drill in Milan in 2024



Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar highlighted that the forthcoming MILAN 2024 exercise, the largest naval drill, will be held in Vishakapatnam. This event will feature a significant milestone as it will witness the simultaneous engagement of two naval warships, marking a novel development in joint operational endeavors.

During an exclusive interaction with India Today TV, he underscored that this occasion will be noteworthy for the inclusion of both INS Vikrant and Vikramaditya, two esteemed naval aircraft carriers, participating jointly in the exercise, which is expected to see the involvement of over 50 countries.

Moreover, Admiral R Hari Kumar elaborated on the Indian Navy's ongoing efforts in safeguarding cargo ships from pirate threats. He emphasized the Navy's commitment to assisting vessels from various nations in navigating away from potential dangers posed by Somali pirates.

Furthermore, Admiral Kumar shed light on the Indian Navy's current engagements, notably the anti-piracy and anti-drone operations. He explained the extensive measures being taken to support not only Indian but also international merchant vessels facing distress situations. Under the anti-drone initiative, the Navy is actively providing aid to ships encountering difficulties and ensuring their safe return to harbor, if required.

In the realm of anti-piracy endeavors, Admiral Kumar detailed the deployment of multiple naval vessels to counter pirate activities in the Arabian Sea. He highlighted instances where fishing vessels flying foreign flags, including those of Iran and Pakistan, were hijacked by Somali pirates for conducting piracy operations. The Indian Navy's proactive interventions have led to the successful release of crew members from several hijacked vessels, underscoring the Navy's unwavering commitment to providing assistance to those in need.
