Officer from Telangana caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 84,000 sobs on camera

An executive engineer employed within the Tribal Welfare Engineering Department of Telangana faced arrest on Monday by anti-corruption authorities, having been apprehended red-handed for allegedly accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 84,000.

The individual in question, identified as K Jaga Jyothi, found herself in legal trouble after purportedly soliciting a bribe from the complainant, Bodukarr Ganganna, a contractor, under the pretext of fulfilling an already "sanctioned" official duty of a bill concerning Nizamabad. The incident transpired within the precincts of Masab Tank in Hyderabad.

A video circulating on social media depicted Jyothi visibly distraught, shedding tears while the confiscated sum of money lay conspicuously on her desk.

Prompted by the complaint, anti-corruption officials swiftly launched an operation, successfully apprehending Jyothi in the act of receiving illicit funds.

After her apprehension, authorities subjected Jyothi to a phenolphthalein test, which revealed positive traces of the chemical on her right-hand fingers. The phenolphthalein test, a common forensic technique, detects potential hemoglobin presence, manifesting a pink hue upon interaction with a mild base.

Officials attribute Jyothi's alleged misconduct to a calculated endeavor to exploit her official capacity for personal gain.

The accused official has since been taken into custody and is slated for presentation before a court in Hyderabad, pending further legal proceedings.

Ongoing investigations seek to delve deeper into the intricacies of the case.
