More than 1,100 devout worshippers participated in a ceremonial 'Palkhi Yatra' near the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, preceding the grand unveiling of the temple scheduled for March 1.

This significant event marks the inauguration of the BAPS Mandir, which holds the distinction of being the first Hindu temple in the Middle East. The auspicious ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mahant Swami Maharaj on Basant Panchami, which fell on February 14.

During the 'Palkhi Yatra' held on Sunday, worshippers reverently carried elaborately adorned palanquins bearing idols of seven revered deities from the temple's inner sanctums.

Participants, hailing from various regions of India, adorned themselves in traditional attire, engaging in soulful devotional singing and joyful dancing as part of the vibrant procession.

Following the procession, Pujya Brahmviharidas Swami, the esteemed project head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, delivered a heartfelt address to the Indian community, as per The Khaleej Times. Community member Lina Barot expressed profound gratitude for the deeply enriching experience, remarking on the overwhelming sense of devotional fervor and vibrant cultural celebration that characterized the event.

The 'Palkhi Yatra' formed an integral part of the expansive 'Festival of Harmony,' which commemorates the momentous inauguration of this historic temple.

Furthermore, the festival encompassed a diverse array of events, including a 'Yagna for Harmony' boasting the participation of more than 980 individuals, alongside initiatives promoting peace and a benevolent blood donation campaign conducted in collaboration with Aster Clinic, as reported by The Khaleej Times.
